Football Game Parking at Farmhouse

For the 2008 Auburn Football season, FarmHouse Fraternity will open up a select amount of parking spaces to the general public for $20 per car.  Two reasons have prompted this decision.  First reason: Auburn University is requiring all fraternities to install a sprinkler system in their house by August 2008.  Preliminary estimates are showing that this type of installation will cost our fraternity a minimum of $60,000.  Furthermore, limited funds currently exist to pay for this renovation.  Second reason: With the recent relocation of C-zone (to the former CDV area) and the construction-related decreased supply of parking spaces for football games, parking at FarmHouse will be in great demand on Saturdays this Fall.

While parking will be open to the general public, specific guidelines have been set concerning when the parking slots will become available.  The front lawn, back gravel parking lot and basketball court will continue to be reserved for alumni, parents, and brothers.  The paved parking lot beside the house will remain vacant until all other areas of the property have filled up.  If the paved parking lot is still vacant three hours before kick-off, it will become open to the general public.  Any members of the general public who pay to park in our paved parking lot will adhere to our rules of no entrance to the house, no tailgating and no alcoholic-beverage consumption on our property.  $20 will allow a member of the general public to only park their car in our lot.

Given our need to raise funds for a sprinkler system, we are asking that alumni consider making a donation when parking at the house on game days.  Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated.  All parking funds received will be placed directly into the sprinkler fund.

For all alumni and brothers who cannot be at the house to park three hours before kick-off, please email Jeff Davenport and he will see to it that spots are reserved for those members.  His email address is: davenjw@auburn.edu

Alumni Luncheons

This Fall, we’re going to begin hosting luncheons for our local area alumni. These will be held one Friday each month, beginning this September. Check back both here and in the upcoming newsletter for updates.

Parents' Day

This year we're hosting a Parents' Day tailgate at FarmHouse on Saturday, October 11th. The itinerary for the day's events is as follows:

11:00 a.m. - Tailgating Begins
11:30 a.m. - Moms' Club Meeting
12:00 p.m. - Lunch and Band Starts
4:00 p.m. - Kickoff vs. Arkansas

The tailgate will be held under our tent in the front yard at FarmHouse. We will be providing lunch, and you are welcome to bring any appetizers or desserts. We will have The Hightide Blues on site for live music, along with a big screen TV showing the day's best football games.

Tailgate 2008

Please join us for Fall tailgates this year. All alumni, family, and friends are invited to join us as we celebrate another great Auburn Tigers football season out underneath our tent, close to the stadium. While our exact tailgating location is still to be determined, it will be both posted here and found in our newsletter going out early this Fall. Food, drinks, and big-screen football will be available in addition to live musical entertainment.

Our current tailgating schedule:
Aug. 30th (La-Monroe)
Sept. 20th (LSU)
Sept. 27th (Tennessee)

Nov. 15th (Georgia)

Founders' Day 2008 A Big Success!

This year's Founder's Day was a huge success. As always, the crawfish boil was outstanding. Special thanks to all who attended, especially the Amerson family who sponsored the crawfish boil and traveled all the way from Texas and Louisiana to cook. This was the 10th consecutive year the Amersons have hosted this wonderful event and this was our largest turnout yet. Also a special thanks to Hugo Rogers who prepared a memorable speech for the banquet that evening.

Award Winners:

Jay Dick Award – Tim Tidwell

Skinner Award – Adria Zellmer
Hugo Rogers Award – Cameron Crosby

Peebles Award – Bryan Guillot

Snyder Award – Taylor Teel

D. Howard Doane Award – Bryan Myers
